double/multiple exposures on the canon av-1
by wastefulspace on February 12, 2008

I met up with Sir Bong Manayon today, one of the members of DPP for something regarding to what I will post tomorrow, maybe :P

One of the most memorable things I learned today from him (which I will expound more tomorrow) was how to do multiple exposure on the av-1. What was great about canon as he said was the movement of film was exact so you get “perfect” double/multi exposures but you have to follow these steps to achieve the power and the glorrryyyy forevvveeeeer…okay got carried away :P

How to to Double/Multiple Exposures on the AV-1 (by Sir Bong)*

1. Take a picture of whatever you want to be double/multi exposed.
2. After the shot, turn the film crank of the av-1, make sure it’s nice and tight…
3. press and hold the film release button (the little black button under the base of the camera)
4. While still holding the film release button, “Advance” the film roll. (this will not move the film :D
5. Lower your exposure to about 1-2 stops
6. Take another shot
7. Rinse, repeat and enjoy for multiple exposures…

Wheeee! Thanks Sir Bong! :D

* On a side note, this multiple exposure can be done with the Canon AE-1, Canon AE-1p, Nikon FM2n, the Porst Rangefinder 135 E, and other similar cameras that has the same advance mechanism… Enjoy ^___^

Stumble it!
