on lomo film : sunsets and skies
by wastefulspace on February 28, 2008

These were the times I was again blessed with a beautiful sky. I had no digital device to save me that day. All I had was my Vivitar UW&S and my AV-1. Vivitar had colored slides. It was my not-so lucky but lucky nevertheless day.

This was ben overlooking the sunset horizon. I was more keen on taking pictures but I will suddenly feel at loss 5 minutes after the whole brain-freezing expereicen whenever I do not have the opportunity to stand beside and be with all the fiery colors. (In other words: I’m so OMG vain and I want a picture together with the sunset). Enough said LOL.

If you remember a few posts back , I guess this was the supposed prelude, but the pics came way later. The power and the pressure of film photography. *numb. But the results and the feeling of seeing your nice shots…PRICELESS (no, this is not some attempt to re-create the Mastercard Ad) :P

I didn’t feel at all bad leaving my digital camera behind that day….I wouldn’t have shots like these if I did!
:D
all shots were taken using Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim + Expired Kodak Elitechrome + cross-processed scanned and developed by Digiprint

Indeed a very beuatiful sky.
Love the colors!!
You have to dump digital :)

Haha, I cannot dump digital completely…but I seem to be using my film cam more often than my digital these days :)

I adore these photos! Sometimes even the most beautiful sunsets can come across a little boring, but the lines of the machines provide a wonderful contrast. LOVE it!

impressive photos! would you get the same result if you were to use another kind of film? how much does an expired kodak elitechrome cost?

hi x0×0 :) thanks for dropping by my blog :)
Well, I think I would get something less contrasty and saturated. The colors became vivid because of slide film + cross processed.
Well. I bought the expired elitechrome for around 150/roll. :) The fresh ones range around 300-500 pesos…Depending on the seller :(

Hi! I stumbled upon your blog and i love your photos much! Post more please :)
One question: How do you get those sunset photos on the vivitar to appear very sharp? Did you rest it on something before taking the shot?

hi Zee :) thanks for visiting :)
i was just holding it in my hands. vivitar gives sharp shots as long as the subject is still within focus :)
hope that helps :D
